In this guided tour, you will live an experience that approaches you the history of Gran Canaria in a friendly and close way.

Once we leave the tourist areas, we start our trip up to the picturesque village of Agüimes (old Aboriginal people) and from there we continue until we reach Guayadeque, an impressive ravine where, in prehispanic times, the ancient inhabitants of Gran Canaria, the Aborigines, used to live in caves. In the ravine of Guayadeque we stop to see and visit a cave town, with its church, bar and small houses built inside the mountain itself, and all this in one of the most spectacular ravines of Gran Canaria.

Our next visit is to an Aloe Vera plantation. Here you can see on site, how to cut some Aloe leafs and discover how the plant itself is inside. After a magnificent explanation of the benefits of this healing plant you can try yourself on your own skin the excellent properties of this plant.

The tour continues along the eastern road and once in the north we start driving up until we reach the smallest municipality on the island: Firgas, where you can stroll along its beautiful streets and sighting one of the most beautiful manmade waterfalls on the Canary Islands, a tribute to the Canary Islands and all the municipalities of Gran Canaria represented.

The tour continues through small farms full of typical crops and you can see how the island is becoming increasingly green. About midday we stop to recover forces in a typical restaurant in the center of Gran Canaria.

The interior of the island shows us its green heart, deep ravines and breathtaking mountainous landscapes that will leave you breathless. In front of you will have more than just once the possibility of photographing the majestic Roque Nublo and Roque Bentaiga, symbols of our history and part of our culture. After reaching the summit, we follow our route and begin to descend surrounded by pine trees and almonds of Tejeda (village known for its almond cakes: Mazapán (marsipan), Bienmesabe (almond honey), Honey rum, amongst others).

We continue our trip down to reach the village of Ayacata, surrounded by almond trees that you can observe in all its splendor with its beautiful pink and white flowers during the winter months.

After passing the town of Tunte in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, we stop for a stroll through the idyllic village of Fataga known as The Valley of a Thousand Palms. Fataga is today a town where many artists and painters have settled for the peace they have found there.

We continue along a beautiful ravine that reveals the volcanic origin of this beautiful island. This last section does not leave you indifferent, you feel as if you are in the Grand Canyon but in Gran Canaria. Already at the time Unamuno expressed his astonishment sighting this landscape as: Petrified Tempest.

After a day full of beautiful experiences we drive back to the hotel, which will take you time to gather everything seen, but happy to have lived.

The tour was fantastic, a bit too long for the kids but we learned a lot about the island, highly recommended.
